10. October – Lazy day on the Atherton Tablelands

Yes, this is our tent at daylight – room for 8 people. Unfortunately, Wendelin’s air mattress lost quite some air during the night, so it was a bit hard.

We first got our things in order and repacked, then did a nice breakfast in the well equipped kitchen. Like yesterday night, we had again a nice talk to a young German/Swiss couple who are camping in a 4 WD car with a roof tent.

We still moved our tent, away from the thick bamboo bush we were standing under. As it gets pretty cold and dump at night, due to condensation water drops fell on our tent and it felt like raining.

Annette then cared for the washing and Wendelin for the different electronic devices which had to be loaded or elsewise cared for.

This is the  „Eacham Lake Tourist Park“ with its „General Store“ from the front:

The owners were so kind as to explain many different things to do and walking trails to hike in the area.

Today, we only do a little hike in the afternoon, about 4 km around Lake Eacham. The path is leading through dense mountain forest with lots of ferns, big trees, fig trees and so on, easy to walk.

And this is a view on Lake Eacham, which is also a popular swimming spot. We also had a bath here.

The „General Store“ which is also operating like a small coffee shop has a good Wifi. So we can still write our blog after sunset.

Tomorrow, we will visit other parts of the tablelands.

Here a picture of the road close to our campground.
