24. October – Train ride and shock in the evening

This morning, we got up at 5 a.m. (bravo Annette) – as our train, „Tilt-Train“ from Rockhampton to Brisbane – leaves at 7.10 a.m. And you are supposed to be there three quarters of an hour before. Well, when we came with all our luggage at 6.15 a.m. , hardly anybody was there. Finally, the check in for the luggage opened at 6.25. As last time, our big suitcase (although we tried hard not to get above 20 kg) had a bit to much weight – 150 g – The employees are strict: take a bit out. We take out 2 t-shirts and come up to 19.9 kg , that found merci in their eyes and they accept the suitcase.

Fortunately, nobody cares about the other suitcases and bags you take inside yourself – although officially only one piece of hand baggage is aloud.

The train is partly faster than that b efore, up to 160 km, the line is electrified all the way. On the other hand, the seats are less comfortable and spacy compared to the „Spirit of Queensland“. The environment is not very diversified, but we cross from time to time flooded rivers.

Finally, we arrive after 8 hours on the train in Brisbane Roma Street Station. Here, we have to change to the airport train with all our luggage:

At the airport we get our new car (from Herzt) wghich we will keep until Adelaide.

Inspecting the car, we found a dent in the front which wasn’t recorded. Wendelin went back to indicate the dammage – Hertz was not very interested and said we should just keep the mobile picture.

Okay, then we drive with all our staff to a Caravan Park on the other side of town – and at the entrance, Wendelin noticed that he had left his purse with all cards at the counter of Hertz!!!

With anxious feelings, we drove back to the airport – and, phew, the purse was found there and we can continue our journey.

And again back to the Caravan Park, pitching up the tent in the dark – we are already used to it.

That we didn’t write something will be understandable for all of you.
