4. November – 15 Kilometer uphill and downhill

Karte

Breakfast at the campground – and it’s only 8 o’clock. Today, we want to leave early for a last, long hike in this journey.

Unfortunately, Wendelin’s right foot hurts. But the foot is getting better and we start inspite of the dark clouds and a few raindrops (we were happy that it doesn’t come more during the day). We do the  „Breadknife and Grand High Tops Walk“. And after a short level walk the path goes very steep in to the rocks. Here, the path is very well maintained – for us even to much, they paved it for more than a kilometer…

At the end, some 100 meters (of about 500!) upwards were done by steps:

We were quite groggy when getting to the top. But the top wasn’t the top – it went on upwards but now over rough and smooth.

We are rewarded by stunning views – however the cloudy sky deminishes the impression, at least on the pictures.

After about 6 hours we arrived back at the carpark – and were just in time to catch a coffee at the nice coffee shop just outside the park, we discovered yesterday – it closes at 4 pm.

In the evening we cook again – on the menu are spaghetti with olives in tomato sauce, accompanied by snow peas.

In front of our „kitchen“ a whole kangaroo gathering…

Tomorrow, we try to leave early, because we have to drive some 400 km to West Wyalong

To show the distances, we have reproduced an postcard, that give the dimensions by putting Europe into Australia.

To Adelaide, where we want to end up on Wednesday we have to drive some 1300 km from here…
